Meet Sam

My parents immigrated to the UK from Bangladesh, where my brother and I were born. My parents immigrated to the UK from Bangladesh, where my brother and I were born. The socioeconomic conditions at the time made it difficult to create a good life there, so we moved back to Bangladesh. My dad refused to accept this failure, so we moved to the US to try again. My father worked 80 hour weeks, doing the jobs no one wanted. I remember eating rice and bananas for weeks. We moved here to pursue a better life in the name of the “American Dream”, but felt as though we were slipping farther and farther behind.

My father stayed persistent and never lost hope. After decades of hard work, he opened up successful business, and attained the wealth he had dreamed of back in Bangladesh. Despite his success, he was still discriminated against and never got the attention he deserved. This is my why. Women, minorities and individuals in the LGBTQ community do not receive the recognition or the attention they deserve, even after beating all the odds put before them.

After graduate school, I opened up a successful brick-and-mortar business. I realized how difficult it was to own a business first hand. Luckily, through trial and error, the business was sold and I started pursuing a career in an industry I love: wealth management.

I quickly rose through the ranks at Fidelity, becoming one of the top advisors in the country. I managed a large book of business, but something was still missing. I didn’t want to be a broker, and longed for close, meaningful relationships in my work environment. I wanted to work for a firm that looked at wealth management differently, and truly cared about its customers and not just their money. I wanted to help clients with complex issues, and work with clients that I can form life-long relationships with. This is why I came to AllianceBernstein, and I look forward to all the wonderful relationships ahead.
