NEW YORK [December 1, 2015] – GuideVine Technologies, Inc. (GuideVine), an online platform that helps consumers find a right-fit financial advisor, is pleased to announce its December philanthropic partner, the U.S. Marine Corps Toys For Tots Foundation. GuideVine will also continue its partnership with Prep for Prep effectively doubling charitable commitments and the ability to give back for the holiday season. GuideVine’s Philanthropy Partnership Program, introduced in October 2015, enables people to make a difference in their communities, while also taking steps to secure their own financial future.
The goal of Toys For Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens. The Foundation plays an active role in the development of children – one of our nation’s most valuable resources. In addition, it helps unite all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign, while also contributing to improving communities in the future.
“Partnering with Toys For Tots is exciting as it is such an important part of the holiday spirit all across the country, and it’s a wonderful national complement to New York-based Prep for Prep, which makes a direct impact in our own city,” said GuideVine CEO and Co-founder Raghav Sharma. “GuideVine is dedicated to helping consumers find unbiased financial advice that meets their needs by facilitating connections with professional financial advisors. For each consumer who has an initial meeting with an advisor during the month of December, we will donate $100 to Toys For Tots and $100 to Prep for Prep- a $200 donation in total. This is a way for GuideVine, and the consumers we serve, to have an impact of the lives of children, giving a little extra holiday love and helping to position them for long-term success.
In 1947, Major Bill Hendricks, USMCR, founded Toys for Tots in Los Angeles, California, collecting 5,000 toys during a pre-Christmas campaign. The following year, the program was adopted by the U.S. Marine Corps and expanded into a nationwide community action project. Originally distributing both used and new toys, the organization decided in 1980 to distribute only new toys, reinforcing the positive message that all children matter equally.
“We are delighted to have been selected by GuideVine as their December philanthropy partner,” said Ted Silvester, Chief of Staff at the Office of Marine Forces Reserve. “We appreciate their desire to help people take control of their finances while also contributing to the future of our country’s children. Over the years, Toys For Tots has become a well-known organization, built through the generosity and commitment of local communities, and individual partners such as GuideVine.”
“We know that for many people, it can be intimidating to take that that first step to meet with a financial advisor and it often gets pushed to the back burner,” said Sharma. “GuideVine users who take the first step toward planning for their financial futures can, at the same time, support the missions of both Toys For Tots and Prep for Prep. Our $100 donations to each organization could be just the motivator they need to help them move forward.”
